Looking at this picture makes you want to get on your bike and ride!
Well, it seems that spring has finally sprung in the Yukon as twenty-six riders took to the road under sunny skies and in relatively warm temperatures last Saturday. And if that wasn’t good enough, a tail wind took some of the burden off of the riders’ legs and lungs.
The course started at Jake’s Corner and ran to the top of south access. This was the finish line for the majority of the field, with the exception of the Expert Men who had to suffer through a lap of Mile Canyon Road before calling it a day.

Temperature: 8 degrees
Winds: out of the south gusting to 35 km/hr.
With summer just around the corner (of course we’re not saying which corner) 32 riders showed up in Porter Creek to ride the second in the summer’s series of time trials being sponsored by Icycle Sports.
The Porter Creek course is known as a difficult one with fast descents and tough short steep uphills. However on Wednesday night the section along Range Road going past Takhini Elementary towards Two Mile Hill was no one’s favorite. It’s was a slow grind uphill into a headwind.
Young Daniel Greer had an excellent ride capturing first in the Men’s Expert category. Greer is a multi-talented athlete who is just coming off a very successful cross-country ski season.
Heather Enders continues to show great form and was first in the Expert Women’s class.
The Men’s Sport group was the largest and was highly competitive. John Berryman edged veteran rider Bob Bowerman and new comer Jesse Reams for the win.
While in the Sport Women’s class Christine Todd broke the 40 minute mark by one second for the victory.
The next race on VeloNorth’s schedule is the Jake’s Corner road race being held this coming Saturday (May 20th).
The Club would like to acknowledge the volunteers who made this race possible.

Each rider hoping that the one in front manages to hold their line and not hook them. At least not on purpose!
On Wednesday, under cloudy skies and cool temperatures 16 riders (all without a mortgage) toed the line for the first of a series of crits being organized this summer.
In the Expert Men class a bold move was put on by Scott Kirby and Ian Parker as they took a flyer off the front early in the race and managed to stay away until the end when Ian made up for being out sprinted last weekend and nipped Scott at the line.
Dan Reimer displayed pure brute strength as he won the Men's Sport class.
Heather Enders continued her winning ways as she won the Women's Expert category and so far this season has two wins.
